Rare live performance of comeback CD by British jazz-fusion legend
On April 8, Londoners will be the first to hear singer and rock veteran Linda Hoyle give a live performance of tracks from her much praised comeback album “The Fetch,” which was named as 2015’s CD of the Year by the London Free Press’s James Reaney.
Linda Hoyle’s previous album with her band Affinity (1969), and her 2nd album, “Pieces Of Me”(1971) co-written with Sir Karl Jenkins, on the famous Vertigo label, are now highly sought-after collector’s items.
Hoyle will perform selections from The Fetch with co-composer Oliver Whitehead, and a strong contingent of London musicians. Described by the Huffington Post (US) as “autobiographical, witty, and dark” Linda’s lyrics describe her days on the road with her British prog-rock band in the late 1960s and her observations of being female in a man’s world. Some songs were also inspired by her decades of experience as an art therapist here in London.
The CD “The Fetch” has been praised by critics around the world, including France, Germany, Japan, the US and the UK.
CRITICAL ACCLAIM for “The Fetch”
“…a gem, it was worth the wait.” (USA)
“it’s all of exceptional quality… frankly we are in a state of grace by so much beauty.” (France)
“living testament that the REALLY great artists – the ones who have talent in their soul and soul in their talent, never, never give up.” Ed Bicknell, manager Dire Straits (retired)
This London performance is a fundraiser for the local agency My Sister’s Place.
